Dvelo.org was a platform built to help raise funds for microfinance*, microinsurance**, and self-sustaining poverty alleviation organizations around the world. It served to provide access to capital for these organizations by utilizing the web's ability to bring together people, ideas, and information seamlessly around the world.

*Microfinance is the practice of providing financial tools such as credit, savings, and insurance to those affected by extreme poverty.
**Microinsurance is the provision of insurance tools (home, inventory, property) to the extremely poor.
